Arrival in port is one of the most critical moments of any sailing voyage, especially when it is an unfamiliar port. Finding the assigned mooring can become a challenge that combines VHF calls, signals from the dock and, sometimes, uncertainty at the last moment. To address this need, a total of 29 ports in the Balearic Islands have implemented digital mooring guidance, an innovative solution that transforms the boater's experience.
What is digital mooring guidance?
Digital mooring guidance is a functionality that allows boaters to locate their assigned mooring and the optimal route to reach it from outside the port, all through a mobile application. In the case of the Balearic Islands, ports such as Alcudiamar, Botafoc Ibiza, Cala'n Bosch (Menorca), Can Pastilla - Sant Antoni de la Platja (Mallorca), Club Náutico La Rapita (Mallorca), CN Cala Gamba (Mallorca), CN Colonia de Sant Pere (Mallorca), CN Portixol (Mallorca), CN Portocolom (Mallorca), CN Portocristo (Mallorca), CN San Antonio de Ibiza, CN San Jose (Ibiza), CN Santa Ponsa (Mallorca), CN S'Estanyol (Mallorca), IGY Marina Ibiza, Marina Cala d'Or (Mallorca), Marina Ibiza, Marina Menorca, Marina Port de Mallorca, Marina Port Ibiza, Marina Port Mahon / Menorca Yacht, Marina Santa Eulalia (Ibiza), Mo Llevant Menorca, Puerto La Savina (Formentera), Puerto Portals (Mallorca), RCM Mahon (Menorca), RCN Port Pollensa (Mallorca), RCN Portopetro (Mallorca) and Real Club Náutico Palma (Mallorca) have adopted this technology.
Through the app PortviewIn addition, ports can assign a berth and send the navigator the precise route within the facility directly to his or her mobile device. This not only facilitates the berthing maneuver, but also reduces uncertainty and streamlines the process. In addition, users can consult the port map in the app, visualize the optimal route from their current position and better plan their entry, anticipating any challenges.
Innovation at the service of yachtsmen
This functionality, developed within the ecosystem Pandora-Portview with the support of the innovation fund Ports 4.0 has been designed with the direct collaboration of several marinas that have identified the most common friction points during the arrival. Currently, more than 200 ports in Spain, including 29 in the Balearic Islands, are mapped with this technology, setting a new standard in the nautical experience.
"We are working with the Portview team to incorporate functionalities in our day-to-day operations that allow us to better connect with the client from the app itself. It is not only about streamlining procedures, but also about accompanying the navigator from the moment he starts his journey and offering him a clearer and more personalized arrival," emphasizes Portview. Beyond guidance: a connected future
Digital mooring guidance is just the beginning. In the coming months, the Portview app plans to incorporate new functionalities to further improve the connection between ports and mariners. These enhancements include the advance submission of documentation, validation of vessel and crew data, access to information about port services and the surrounding area, and the creation of a nautical wallet that centralizes all the information needed for the scale.
A frictionless nautical experience
In an industry where every detail counts, digital mooring guidance does not seek to replace human contact, but to complement it. This technology allows sailors to enjoy a smoother arrival, with more information and an optimized experience. Connecting the port and the sea in an efficient and personalized way is already part of the new nautical standard, and the Balearic Islands are at the forefront of this transformation.
