Pandora Payments is the integrated payment system for Pandora P4, the marina management platform. Marinas and marina operators collect fees for berths, transit reservations, invoices, and services through their own management system, and boaters pay via their mobile devices using the Portview app.
What is Pandora Payments?
Pandora Payments connects the user, the payment, and the port’s accounting system in a single workflow. It’s not just about adding another payment gateway: it digitally closes the entire financial cycle between the port and its customer, from the moment the invoice is issued until the payment is reconciled.
It is one of the three pieces of Pandora P4:
- Pandora Pro: the port's management system (ERP), which handles berths, reservations, billing, and accounting.
- PortView: the navigator app, which serves as a channel for customer engagement and payments.
- Pandora Payments: the financial layer that processes, authorizes, and identifies each payment.
The problem: Many ports still collect payments manually
At many ports and marinas, billing is handled separately from operations. Bank transfers arrive with incomplete payment details, receipts are sent by email, and SEPA receipts are returned. You have to check your bank statements and call to file a claim. Every month, the administration spends hours figuring out which invoices have been paid and which haven’t.
Meanwhile, online users expect the same as in other sectors: to book, pay, and receive confirmation on their cell phones, without having to visit the office.
How Pandora Payments Works: The Billing Cycle in 6 Steps
- Pandora develops the economic concept: invoice, reservation, payment, or service.
- PortView alerts the sailor and the operation begins.
- The customer chooses the payment method and pay with your cell phone.
- The financial layer confirms the payment status.
- Pandora updates automatically the invoice or the reservation.
- The port sees the reconciled collection and its indicators.
What's Changing: Payment is no longer an external process that someone has to track down. It is a transaction identified from the very beginning. For each charge, the gateway can view the status, invoice, customer, payment method, reference number, issues, and retries.
Payment Methods: The Right One for Every Situation
Pandora Payments does not impose a single payment method. The platform selects the most appropriate method for each customer, amount, and transaction, while ensuring identification, traceability, and reconciliation for all of them.
| Method | Better fit | Main advantage | Things to Keep in Mind |
| Card / Wallet | Transits and One-Time Services | Immediate confirmation | Higher cost per transaction |
| Subscription with a credit card | Monthly Fees and Recurring Services | Automatic billing | There may be failed transactions or disputes |
| SEPA Direct Debit | Traditional event | Low and well-known cost | Return of Receipts |
| Identified Transfer | Companies and Large Amounts | Family-Based Approach for Businesses | Less immediate |
| Open banking | Account-to-Account Payments | Faster than a wire transfer | Coverage varies by country and bank |
Benefits of Pandora Payments for the Port
- Less manual reconciliation. Payments are identified at the source: customer, invoice, description, payment method, and reference.
- Greater cash flow predictability. Payment can be immediate, in advance, or recurring, depending on the use case.
- Fewer operational defaults. There are retries, card updates, and notifications when a charge fails.
- Greater traceability and control. Status, history, incidents, returns, and disputes are recorded and can be audited.
- More self-service options for customers. The sailor checks payments, invoices, and methods without calling the port.
- New revenue. Reservations, services, and supplies that were not previously billed digitally.
The pass as a data source for the port
Each payment provides information that did not exist before: what is purchased, when, who buys it, by what method, and with how much friction. This data is used to populate dashboards and manage delinquent accounts, segment customers, and automate communications. Furthermore, once a traveler pays through the app, PortView becomes their primary channel for interacting with the port.
Security
Pandora is certified ISO/IEC 27001:2022, the international benchmark standard for information security management. Security and regulatory compliance are built into the platform from the design phase.
